Tasks and objectives
The Library of Parliament is open to the public. In addition to Parliament it serves anyone who needs information concerning Parliament, law or society. Most of the material in the library is available for loan.The Library of Parliament disseminates information on Parliament and its work. It provides access to the documents of the Parliament of Finland as well as parliamentary documents from other countries. It also offers a wide range of literature concerning the Parliament of Finland and other parliaments, parliamentarism and representative democracy. The Library of Parliament disseminates information on legislation and the legal system. It contains a broad collection of legal material: Finnish and foreign statutes, law books, law drafting material, collections of case law and legal literature. The Library of Parliament also disseminates information on Finnish society, the European Union and international organisations. It has extensive material dealing with the functioning of society, history, politics, international relations and economics.
