Organization and staff


The Library of Parliament is an expert organization whose operations are directed by its Board. The Library is headed by the Director of the Library of Parliament. The Library’s fields of expertise cover parliamentary information as well as legal and social and political information. Responsibility for developing these areas rests with the chief information specialists, among others.

The library staff works within three service entities which develop and provide the library services. Responsibility for the operations of the individual entities rests with the Heads of Services. The service entities are:
  • Collection Services
  • Reference and Archival Services
  • Information Services
The Archive of Parliament is part of the Library of Parliament. The archive staff works under Reference and Archival Services.

The Library of Parliament operates under the auspices of the Information and Communication Department of the Parliamentary Office. The Director of the Library is Sari Pajula. The Library has 52 permanent staff positions. For more details, see the Organization chart.
