Information service

information service The Library of Parliament's Information Service provides assistance in finding legal information, social and political information and parliamentary information. The Information Service conducts searches on these subjects and on international organisations' and the EU's materials. The Information Service also helps you search for information independently.

The Information Service serves external customers, while Parliament's Research Service serves MPs and parliamentary staff.

Enquiries can be addressed to the Information Service in person, by phone, by e-mail or using a form.

The Library of Parliament participates in the joint online reference inquiry service Ask a Librarian.

The Information Service searches for information and material from the Library of Parliament's own collections, the Internet and Finnish and foreign databases to which it has access. Information searches are made as soon as possible. The Information Service's delivery period is three days.

The Information Service helps you search for and use parliamentary documents, statutes, legal cases and the EU's and international organisations' materials. Databases and CD-ROMs are also at your disposal.

The Information Service guides users to information sources but does not give legal advice.

The Information Service is free for the most part. Extensive information searches are subject to a charge.
